Use this handout to take notes on the two talks we will watch today. IF you were absent, you need to complete this and give it to Lori. Opening Discussion In small groups, share your responses to the motivation/discipline questions/reading that we did yesterday. Then turn in your Mise en Place notes. Framing: Yesterday, we looked at the idea of Mise en Place, of setting up and preparing your life so that you use your time and resources more efficiently. Today, we’re going to look at one of the enemies of mise en place: procrastination. This is the number one thing I hear from students over and over again when they are not successful. To overcome it, we need to understand it, so the goal for today is to be able to explain WHY people procrastinate, and describe some strategies for overcoming it. Starter: (on your notes document)
TED Talk- Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator (20 min) Watch this TED talk. As you watch, take notes on the handout I gave you about the three different voices in the heads of procrastinators. TED Talk- How to End Procrastination (5 min) Watch this talk, and complete notes on the handout. Introduce MISE EN PLACE PROJECT (you should complete this on the assignment on Google Classroom)
This is due on Friday, October 15 at the start of class. That means you should start TODAY! For the rest of class, I want you to think about what organizational system in your life you want to tackle. I’ve seen everything from morning routines, to homework organization, to backpack organization, to packing lunches. Think about something that will make your life run more smoothly. CLASS NOTES- Use these notes to complete all the tasks below!

Organizational Systems (5 min) What are the organizational systems you use in your life? They are EVERYWHERE. Think about how you organize, time, space, materials, relationships, digital stuff… Brainstorm a list with your partner. You need to have at least 10 things on that list. My (partial) list:
